Blaaaaaa.....

That's how I feel. Blaaaa.... This semester is literally going to drive me crazy! I'm taking Pentecostal Distinctives, Systematic Theology III, Synoptic Gospels, and Cultural Arts and Communications. Can it sound any more boring than that?!?!

To easily sum it up, they're boring the CRAP out of me! I mean, on average, we're talking about two papers per class over the entire semester! You can argue what I'm about to say, but it's true. I would much rather be in everyone else's shoes, having all the lessons to write, the teaching, the paperwork, the portfolio, the stress. You name it, I'll take it (even the heavy burden of snorkeling that the Saipan people have to cary) ! Just, PLEASE, get me out of these classes!

I've found a temporary fix--I come to class, sit in the back, and read a book. This got some strange looks from people in Pentecostal Distinctives, but that may just be because I was reading Harry Potter and they probably all thought that I had brought the devil's presence (sorry if some of you think that, too--I'll happily disagree with you) .

Anyway. I'll be so happy when this semster's done. I want to be doing something that I care about again.

Hello from your Saipan Friends!

Hey Ya'all! This blog stuff is cool! This is the view from our apartment! I don't know how to post the link to my blog on the side, so maybe some one else can do it for me. it is www.mollybarnhart.blogspot.com We are having a great time! We are so blessed to have Miss Connor with us! She is so great! We are all getting along great (at least I think so!) and we are loving the school and the kids! The weather has been pretty rainy, but God gave us a nice day today to tour the island. He is so creative! Mel and I are sitting in our car outside a coffee shop using their wireless internet! They closed an hour ago, so we had to leave, but we were not done emailing, so we have just been accessing it from the parking lot! I feel like a hacker! I miss all of you guys! Can't wait to be in the portfolio class with you! How will we ever get anything done!

Don't write letters!

I taught a lesson on formal letter format this week. We talked about the parts, what order they go in, etc. The next day we reviewed and Othello (an easily distracted, full of energy kid that talks too fast when he's excited) says, "Well what if someone has your letter and they take your signature and like clone you and like start writing your checks and steal your money?"
I replied with, "You mean like identity theft?"
"Yeah"
And that led to an off subject discussion of identity theft. I finally reasured my frantic seventh graders that if they wrote a letter with their signature, the theft would also need their checks and when asked to presnent ID while using the check he or she would be caught. It was rough there for a bit though. They almost decided against writing letters! LOL.

happy new year!

i'm finally writing in here over break! cuttin it close though ;)
in response to brooke's entry about our favorite part of christmas i would like to say i really enjoyed watching tv at my folk's house. crazy i know, but i loved it since we don't have a tv. and while watching that tv i discovered a country song called "honky tonk badonkadonk"(you can listen to the song or watch the video from that link). now i have seen everything.
ok, seriously - my favorite part of christmas break was christmas eve dinner with nick. we missed the christmas eve service (we thought it started an hour later than it did) and we couldn't find any houses with good christmas lights to look at so i was bummed. but we had his family's cheese fondue next to the christmas tree and it made everything prior to that vanish. i love that i was able to make new christmas traditions this year with nick too.
now i can't belive i'm actually going to be student teaching in a few days - and that i'll be taking Praxis tests in less than a week! geez! im really gonna be a teacher soon! well...if i can pass those tests ;)
